About Trancoso

Trancoso is a district of Porto Seguro, located on the southern coast of Bahia. The current village of Trancoso comes from a jesuit village named São João Batista dos indios, founded in 1586. The town remained unknown nationally until being "discovered" at the end of the 1970s.

The main economic activity in the district of Trancoso is tourism. Its beautiful beaches, local handicrafts, cuisine, bahian and international, its charming inns and ecotourism activities make Trancoso one of the most popular destinations in Brazil for tourists all over the world.

The main beaches of Trancoso are: Curuípe, Espelho, Patimirim, Itapororoca Itaquena, Praia dos Nativos, Praia dos Coqueiros, Rio da Barra Green River, Taipei.

The heart of Trancoso, is called the Square. The Square is an old football field that today more closely resembles a square surrounded by colorful houses and a nice church white background. On the Square conduct several craft shops, restaurants, bars, hostels and boutiques brands.

Trancoso still retains the atmosphere of quiet village and stripped with the soul young and the globalised delighting the many tourists of various ages and nationalities.
