Municipality of the State of Bahia, the city of Ilhéus has the longest coastline of the State.

Islanders was founded in 1534 and today is considered the capital of the cocoa. The Bahian writer Jorge Amado, adapted the town to write one of his best known novels, Gabriela, clove and cinnamon.
